The first quarter assignment will be fairly simple. Read your book, and write a paragraph in response to the following questions:
1. Plot Summary (one paragraph): What happened in this book?
2. Who or what is the protagonist, who or what is the antagonist, and what is the main conflict in the book?
3. What is the theme of the novel? What lesson do you learn from it? Remember, a theme is a sentence, not a word.
4. Write one quote from the book and explain why it is important to the novel.
5. Would you recommend this book to someone else? Why or why not?
For those of you reading nonfiction books, if your book doesn't lend itself to these questions, let me know and we'll work out an alternative assessment.
This assignment will be due the first day of second quarter, which will fall in early November.
